Our story

It all started about eight years ago, when I was living out of a van in Northern California. Just to be clear, by “van” I don’t mean a $100,000 Sprinter, I mean a ten-year-old Chevy Astro I bought for $2,500 whose check engine light came on about thirty minutes after driving away.

As freeing and adventurous as that chapter of life was, it was also unexpectedly difficult. Like many people, I carry stress in my body and during that period I began having trouble eating. I would feel hungry but my digestion felt tense and shut down.

One morning, searching for something that might help, I bought a single-origin chocolate bar from the natural foods store where I often went for breakfast (and occasionally to brush my teeth). With the first bite something shifted. My whole body relaxed. It felt as though I had finally found something my system could truly receive.

That moment marked the beginning of my relationship with cacao.

Since then, I’ve traveled through Guatemala, southern Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, and Costa Rica exploring local cacao traditions, varieties, and preparation methods. Along the way, cacao also became part of my personal practice — a quiet cup in mindful silence whenever I need grounding, clarity, reflection, or simply a moment to reconnect with myself.

This is the latest chapter in that journey. Our intention is simple: to offer high-quality ceremonial cacao at an accessible price, packaged without plastic, so that you can create your own daily ritual — whether for introspection, celebration, connection, or whatever the moment calls for.
